The Story
From Street Stallsto Kingston
At the heart of it is Chef Vin. A natural across cuisines, it was the food of the East that truly struck a chord — the kind of cooking where everyone at the table gets a bite of everything, where dishes are simple on the surface yet layered beneath, and where great ingredients are allowed to speak for themselves.
Raised with a deep reverence for home cooking — shaped by his mother and grandmother — he left with a backpack and a curiosity that took him through the night markets of Vietnam, the hawker lanes of Thailand, and everywhere in between.
What struck him wasn’t complexity. It was the opposite: the magic of simple things, done with soul.
A note from us
Some of you may know this address. East Lane sits in the same spot that was home to Bindaas — and if you were a regular, you're more than welcome back. Chef Vin has always had a love for the food of the East, and over time that passion grew into something he couldn't ignore. What began as Indian cooking evolved naturally into the pan-Asian kitchen he'd always dreamed of — one that draws from every corner of the East, from the street food stalls of Vietnam to the home kitchens of Korea and Thailand. Same warmth, same heart. A new journey. We hope you'll join us for it.
